about

c r u $ h c i t y marks the official return of ZION The 83rd LION. After a three year hiatus from releasing solo music, and a year off the grid from social media and NYC nightlife, The 83rd returns with a brand new six song EP entitled c r u $ h c I t y. “I was burnt out, I hit a wall, couldn’t see anymore, I needed to go away, to heal.” During that time he wrestled with God, changed his name, went into rehab for a spine injury, detoxed, fasted and rebuilt the foundations of Sermon 3. Well healed he has, and now ZION LION has returned as The 83rd to take everything and everyone to the next level.

The 83rd’s surprise first single came out last month, appropriately titled Atomic, as it dropped out of nowhere. Marked by an infectious Philly / Jersey club energy, Atomic is a frenetic underground bomb waiting to go off in any DJ’s toolkit. His second single, u dont love me u love what i can do 4 you, is an all too catchy afrobeat-esque made-for-radio single that sees The 83rd singing in the most particularly left yet pop centered ways.

c r u $ h c i t y also is highlighted with an epic feature from Black revolutionary leader Kwame Ture. Ture’s sons have officially cleared the sample of their father speaking on the album regarding the expedited need to crush capitalism and the underpaying labor
systems ruling people. Kwame Ture was the prime minister of the Black Panther Party and a prominent leader of SNCC, among other African Revolutionary organizations.

The 83rd ‘c r u $ h c i t y’ drops Sept 23rd.
